how does it work?


Monthly updates make up the bulk of work under the support contract. This includes core updates and plugin updates (additional 3rd party elements that provide functionality). All websites have a series of plugins that enable things like contact forms, redirects, payment gateways and caching and it is important that these are kept up to date, much like app updates on your phone.

Keeping the actual version of the WordPress and WooCommerce up to date is also particularly important as the system has new security features and improvements made frequently.

Our updating process involves vigorous testing at 3 stages to ensure by the time monthly updates are made live, there is minimal risk to your day-to-day online operations being affected.

We develop a structured testing plan that covers the three stages of updating and formalise this into word format. We share this document with you and explain the aspects of the work, so you understand our testing protocol. This testing plan covers the testing and checking of
all areas of your site including, base function, payments, delivery rules, and any custom functionality that may have been implemented. The testing plan will also be advanced as we add further function to your website.

We use a system that allows us to update sites with minimal down time to the live/production environment, so your site remains online and active for as long as possible with no interruptions.

With this full updating and testing approach we aim to keep disruption to a minimum and it is important that this level of process takes place to ensure your site remains running on the latest versions. 

Streamlining Support & Enhancing Efficiency

General Technical support & fix allocation

As a supported customer you will be offered priority level support. We leave space in our schedule to ensure we have time to tackle requests daily and we grow this space based on the level of clientele.

Not only do we focus on the tasks above within your allotted time, but we also want to offer a support channel for you in case you have a problem. For example, if you have noticed a fault on your site or have a concerning issue with a customer, then we are there to help. You may also have a question regarding making a change or additional training, which we are happy to assist with.

After extensive research and improvements our approach is to offer our customers an agreed hour usage where we can utilise up to a certain number of hours each month without authorisation, for example 4 hours. This ranges based on site complexity and on-going support usage and can change over time to suit the websites support requirements. These hours will only be used where required for fixes, technical support, and small additions that you may require (larger project work will always be costed and specified as a separate project).

The hours are only charged for when used, and billed at the end of each month; this will be summarised along with your monthly support. If you do not use any hours, you will not receive an invoice. This approach means that we do not have to constantly come back to you with a cost each time we notify you of required fix work or you submit a request for support.

This time is not fixed for a certain number of months and can be dynamically changed monthly if you request it. It is an additional agreed cost with yourselves on top of the outline fundamental support. We will always notify you when we get close to using your allotted time. With this notification you have the option to agree additional time to have tasks completed.

Of course, you do not have to agree this usage, but the benefits are that you do not have to wait for us to confirm a cost for a fix or support request. This means that issues and resolution can be actioned quicker.
